Intestinal Imbalance

Did you know the most important part of immune system is in your gut?

That’s right! The majority of the U.S population has an imbalance in their gut flora AKA colon bacteria, where our immunity resides. Once imbalanced, we become susceptible to maleficent bacteria, parasites, sickness, even cancer, that all have the potential to control cravings, mood and damn near our whole body! For example, when you’re sick with a cold and you feel absolutely lethargic and to the point where you cannot even move, well… there you go. You are a prisoner in your own home allowing a parasite to live, rent free. Most doctors are taught pharmaceutical, text book fixes and that most of the issues we have are in our genes, are hereditary and is usually their excuse for most of the issues they are unable to completely determine true causes of. Medications are not cures nor is blaming our ancestors. Medications can be helpful when absolutely necessary but food should be the first and even only approach you need to create a balanced internal system, especially when dealing with our gut.

Whatever you eat must come out because the body uses what it needs from the food you eat and then gets rid of what it doesn’t. So imagine if you eat and eat and eat but nothing is coming out? All these byproducts of food are toxic wastes that normally should come out, but instead, are piling up in your system, slowly fermenting and causing gas (AKA bloating for some) and eventually starting a cascade of all around toxicity.

In order to keep your internal gut system working well, you must listen to your body. Notice symptoms of constipation, sluggishness, skin breakouts, acne, bloating, diarrhea, mood changes and even depression. If you have most or even any of these on a regular basis, well, you’re most likely suffering from a gut imbalance and the gut needs good bacteria to keep it healthy called probiotics. These are beneficial, naturally occurring bacteria that live in your colon and regulate bowel movements and your overall gut health. However, they have the potential to turn bad if the right acidic environment is present. This change can either be due to a heavy diet laden with fast, cheap and processed foods that are usually lacking whole nutrients or from misuse of medications like antibiotics, given by doctors to treat infections, which completely wipe out bad AND good bacteria causing gut imbalance. And consequently why medications, especially antibiotics, would be useless and pointless for treating an imbalance in the body’s gut flora.

These bacteria can cause full blown systemic damage controlling damn near everything in our body, leaving us open to other invaders like parasites. Parasites are nasty organisms that basically live off your body and compete for everything you normally would need to thrive and be healthy like nutrients, and will basically take it from you. Many thrive on simple sugars/carbohydrates and some on protein, and just like you and I, must excrete what they digest, which in turn travels all throughout your body causing even more issues. These parasites are commonly found as #worms like pictured above and Liver Flukes (they look like tomato skins in your bowel) and are not easily identifiable with mainstream medical testing. This is because they are hidden in what’s called biofilm, which is a sticky, mucus film they create as a protective barrier, undetectable from traditional #stool tests. They are very smart so we wary!

Parasites are nasty organisms that basically live off your system and compete for everything you normally would need like nutrients and will basically take it from you. Many thrive on simple sugars/carbohydrates and some on protein and just like you and I, must excrete what they digest, which in turn travels all throughout your body causing even more toxicity. If you live in the USA, you most likely have parasites. Not matter how controlled you think restaurants are in handling and processing your food, think again. Parasites come from contaminated water, food, meat, animals, fecal matter and can cause great distress on your gut health.

Remember, you are what you eat!

To keep your body working healthy, strong and at full capacity to fight and prevent gut imbalance and parasitic takeover, you must fuel it with the right foods===> fresh whole foods! Completely limit or avoid anything from a box, fast foods, highly processed foods, prepackaged foods, refined sugars, artificial sugars and colors and stick to real foods. Choose organic and non-genetically modified foods to limit toxic chemicals. Take a raw probiotic daily, consume full fat yogurt containing “active cultures” devoid of sugar, eat naturally fermented foods like sauerkraut, pickled fruits & vegetables, kimchi, miso, tempeh, or drinks like Kombucha or Kefir as this fermentation process produces natural good bacteria. 

Other foods that help feed the good bacteria in our gut are Tiger Nuts (coconut tubers), coconut itself (oils & the meat), pumpkin seeds, onions, garlic, oil of oregano, wormwood, are also some herbs and foods that help push out parasites. They don’t like anything void of simple carbs and that are naturally bitter by nature so make sure you include lots of these into your diet daily to keep your gut balanced. You could also parasite cleanse a few times a year using whole food supplements & by eliminating animal products and refined grains and sugars for a few days.

Also recognize that other lifestyle factors such as stress, lack of sleep, being sedentary can also lead to imbalances. Always make sure you give yourself enough sleep to allow the body to rest! And note that 4 hours is not considered sleep.

Understand that stress can manifest into a physical being creating havoc on the body and yes the gut as well. Focus on the cause(s) that allow you to become stressed out whether it’s work, family, relationships, financial status. We allow ourselves to become stressed, so work on not allowing things to affect you in that way. Yoga, meditation, dancing are all things that can help relieve stress and basically any type of activity is great, as long as it promotes positivity in your life.

Be active! Exercises like weight training and cardio allows for better blood flow and more oxygenation throughout the body, which in turn results in natural antioxidant immunity from illness. Yoga and stretching actually help promote better bowel movements as these types of activity helps waste travel along the intestines and out your colon.

By listening to your body, feeding it whole foods and being active, your body will run more efficiently and turn you into powerhouse free of sickness.
